Dr. Francis Francois is the visionary founder of the Center for Learning, Innovation, & Change (CLIC), an organization focused on fostering academic excellence, social justice, and positive change within underserved communities.
Dr. Francois grew up in Little Haiti, one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Miami. With unemployment, poor living conditions, poverty, and crime, Dr. Francois witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by young people in accessing quality education and mentorship.
A lack of educational opportunities, high unemployment, crime, and negative lifestyle challenges caused children with enormous potential to struggle in finding their footing in society. Despite the odds, Dr. Francois was able to overcome these barriers through the guidance of his mentors and a strong commitment to learning.
With a deep passion for paying it forward, Dr. Francois founded CLIC to provide the same opportunities to underserved youth that he received. The organization's original name, Pay it Forward Mentoring Program, reflects this ethos. Over time, Dr. Francois and his team expanded the program's scope to encompass a wide range of services that empower young people, families, and communities.
Today, CLIC provides comprehensive mentoring and support services to educational institutions and community organizations in South Florida. Through innovative learning approaches, Dr. Francois and his team help young people achieve academic excellence, explore future career paths, develop life skills, make healthy life choices, and build social skills. The organization also offers personal self-care, delinquency prevention, and world exposure programming.
CLIC's services are designed to be holistic, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for all participants. Field trips, outings, and other Club Programming allows young people to gain exposure to new experiences and broaden their horizons. Dr. Francois and his team are passionate about creating an environment that supports young people, helping them to overcome challenges and realize their full potential.
Overall, Dr. Francois is proud of the impact that CLIC has made within underserved communities. The organization's commitment to academic excellence, social justice, and positive change has helped countless young people thrive, and it continues to expand its reach.
